What is Ultherapy?
Ultherapy uses therapeutic ultrasound with focused visualization to stimulate collagen. Our providers are able to customize where treatment is needed most and at what depths. Micro Infused ultrasound generates thermal injury under the skin of the face, neck, and décolleté up to 4.5 millimeters deep to stimulate the production of collagen. Ultherapy is the only FDA-approved procedure with no downtime to lift the neck, chin, and brow as well as an excellent option to treat lines and wrinkles on the decollete. It’s truly a viable alternative for those not wanting to undergo invasive surgery.
Who is a good candidate for Ultherapy?
Prime candidates for Ultherapy typically have mild to moderate skin laxity, which is where the skin begins to feel and look less firm. Examples include a lowered eyebrow line, loose skin on the neck, sagging under the chin, and lines or wrinkles on the chest. Our highly trained practitioners are equipped to determine if an individual is a good candidate.
What are the benefits of Ultherapy?
Ultherapy increases collagen which causes the skin to tighten and restore itself back to its elasticity levels from years past. Results may take anywhere from three to six months to take notice. Similar to hair growth, the changes are not visible from one day to the next, but over time the changes become more noticeable and continue to improve.
How long does the Ultherapy procedure take?
The Ultherapy procedure takes around 45 minutes to one hour and patients generally return to their normal routine immediately.
What happens during Ultherapy?
It involves first applying ultrasound gel, then going over the treatment area in multiple passes at different depths. Patients most often come in for the jawline and neck, but it is effective around the brows and cleavage areas as well.
Does Ultherapy hurt?
Typically, this procedure only pre-medicates with numbing cream or a mild sedative, but the majority of patients don’t require anything at all. Some areas of treatment are more sensitive than others and can be described as a brief sensation of heat, lasting around 3-4 seconds.
Are there any side effects of Ultherapy?
Post-procedure side effects are mostly mild. Some patients experience swelling or soreness in the treated area that only lasts a few days.
Can Ultherapy be combined with any other treatments?
Ultherapy can be used in combination with other skincare treatments and procedures to create a stronger definition of the jawline. Some patients do a Kybella injection in a prior session which will freeze, dissolve, or destroy fat cells. Ultherapy can then do its job of tightening the skin in that same area. Ultherapy should be scheduled in a separate session from any injectables as the swelling is not ideal for either neuromodulator (Botox, Dysport, or Xeomin) or dermal fillers (i.e. Juvederm, Restylane, Voluma, and Lyft).
