Treatments for Fine Lines and Wrinkles
Neuro-modulator (Botox, Dysport, Xeomin) injections treatments for the face have become increasingly popular in recent years as people seek quick, non-invasive ways to improve their appearance. We’ve provided some of the benefits of these products as well as some of the differences between these popular treatments for patients.
Benefits of Wrinkle Relaxers
Smoothing Out Wrinkles and Fine Lines
Neuro-modulator Injections work by relaxing the muscles that cause wrinkles, smoothing out lines and creases in the skin. Over time when contracting the same muscles through normal facial expressions, lines, and creases can form. When we RELAX (NOT FREEZE) the corresponding muscle, we can soften those expression lines and wrinkles. New lines and wrinkles can often be avoided as well, by treating areas preventatively. We definitely see a lot of patients in their twenties that are being treated to prevent any lines or wrinkles from forming in the first place.
Non-Invasive
Injectable treatments are non-invasive and require no downtime, making them a popular alternative to surgical procedures.
Quick Results
The results of injectable treatments can be seen within days, and they typically last for several months. As we will discuss below, this is where some of the differences lie between products.
Customizable and Cost Effective
These treatments can be tailored to each individual, allowing for a personalized approach to treating specific areas of concern. For example, a lip flip, using a neuromodulator, can achieve results that might benefit a patient at far less cost than lip filler. Discussing expectations and your specific concerns with one of our experienced injectors will guide you to the right decisions in which areas will benefit from treatment the most, as well as considering your budget.
Botox vs Dysport vs Xeomin
While all three of these injectable treatments work in a similar way, there are some differences to consider when choosing the best option for you. Here’s a brief look at the differences between Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin:
Botox
– The OG of neuromodulators and as a result, it’s the tried and true for some injectors because of its reliability and wide range of approved uses.
– Botox is much more targeted, making it amazing for small areas and pesky wrinkles like Crow’s feet.
Dysport
-Many patients report that their Dysport might kick in sooner, and may last longer than Botox.
– The Dysport molecule behaves differently. Its formulation is smaller and more diluted which allows it to diffuse across an area more efficiently, compared to Botox. This makes it great for larger surface areas like the forehead.
Xeomin
– Similar to Botox in terms of effectiveness, but some patients report that their results lasted slightly longer with Xeomin.
– Xeomin is made of a purified protein whereas the others are made of a mixture of proteins. As a result, this could lead to fewer allergic reactions.
It is important to note that all three products should be administered by a trained and experienced healthcare professional to ensure safety and optimal results.
Overall the goal of all of these products is the same. And, as in many products, results can vary from patient to patient. The speed of results after treatment as well as the duration of those results may determine the best product for you. While Botox is the most popular and versatile option, Dysport may offer faster results and better coverage for larger areas. Xeomin, being the newest product, may appeal to those concerned about resistance issues.
